General Principles of Good Research Practice
The general principles of Good Research Practice (Article 2 Statutes for Safeguarding Good Research Practice at KIT) include in particular:
- Scientific work lege artis (= "according to the rules of the art"), i.e. with subject-specific standards and established or very well described methods.
- Conduct research in an open-minded manner.
- To allow and encourage critical discourse within the own working unit and the wider scientific community.
- To always document results in a fair, transparent, complete and unbiased manner.
- To consistently self-doubt all results.
- To be conscientious and honest in the determination of scientific facts and truthful in the attribution of ideas and results to their authors, past and present.
- Respect for colleagues, students, study participants, animals, cultural assets and the environment.
